$26 Million Headed to Martin County for Water Upgrades

Martin County is reportedly getting nearly $26 million from the state to improve rural water systems.

Governor Andy Beshear’s office says House Joint Resolution 81 has released $52 million to improve water systems across rural Kentucky.

Several towns in other counties are getting money as well including Elkhorn, Evarts, and Martin in Floyd County.

In a statement Beshear says Martin County has faced challenges for far too long and this funding will make a difference.

Martin County Judge-Executive Lon Lafferty says the county is grateful to the governor and the legislature for the money.
