The Letcher County School District is looking for ways to find $3 million to replace the money that FEMA has reportedly pulled.
The FEMA funding was to be used to replace fields badly damaged in the floods of 2022.
A report on WKEU stated that Superintendent Denise Yonts said that the old Whitesburg High School field was rebuilt on higher ground across the river and FEMA had approved the project.
Then, once they got the plans submitted and the project finished, FEMA pulled the funds. Yonts said the district is now going through the appeals process.
