Pike County Man Arrested in Alleged Telecommunications Cable Theft

A Pike County man has been arrested for allegedly stealing tellecommunicatins cable for scrap.

Police responded to a theft report from AT&T at Sookey’s Creek.

Officers later found 34-year-old Joshua McCoy, of Pikeville, nearby with the stolen cable in the back of his truck. 

McCoy told police that he simply found the cable lying ont he ground, but AT&T provided surveillance video of the theft in progress. 

McCoy was arrested and is now being held at the Pike County Jail. 

He could face up to five years in prison, if convicted.
