Kentucky Backs Nationwide Effort to Stop Scam Calls

Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman is joining a 48-state bipartisan coalition urging the Federal Communications Commission to tighten rules aimed at stopping robocall and text scams.

The attorneys general want stronger requirements for companies that buy and resell phone numbers, saying scammers continue to exploit legitimate numbers to deceive consumers.

According to the Robocall Index, more than 323 million robocalls were made to Kentucky during the first six months of this year.

Coleman says his office will continue working with state and federal partners to protect Kentuckians from scam calls and texts.
