A parent’s worst nightmare came to life Friday afternoon when a coal truck and a school bus collided sending the school bus off the road and into a creek.
The Letcher County school bus had 22 students from Arlie Boggs Elementary School in it.
Those students and the bus driver were taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries.
April Martin told the Herald-Leader Saturday night that her six-year-old son, Gunner, “had a severe cut across his cheek bone all the way to his ear.”
Two students were later transferred to other hospitals to be treated for serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the coal truck had minor injuries but did not go to the hospital.
The accident happened on KY-932 near US-119.
