Floyd County Schools Investigating Threat at John M Stumbo Elementary School

The following is a release from Floyd County Schools:

On Monday, October 7th, 2024, the Floyd County School District, in coordination with the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department, addressed an incident at John M. Stumbo Elementary School.

A juvenile student made a threat and is being charged with Terroristic Threatening, Second Degree.

The Floyd County Sheriff’s Department, after a thorough investigation, determined that the
juvenile had made implicit threatening statements to another student.

Based on this information, the Floyd County Sheriff’s Department took the juvenile into custody.

At no time was a firearm discovered on school property, and no students or staff were in any
imminent danger during this incident.

The Floyd County School District will continue to work closely with law enforcement as this
investigation progresses.
