Former Paintsville/Johnson County Emergency Management Director Gary McClure was remembered at both the Paintsville City Council meeting and the Johnson County Fiscal Court Meeting on Monday afternoon.
McClure passed away on September 18th following a long battle with health.
At Monday’s Paintsville City Council meeting, Paintsville Mayor Bill-Mike Runyon recognized McClure in the opening of the meeting.
“He gave 44 years of his life to public service, and Gary was always an individual who took his job extremely serious. He is going to be greatly missed, but he will never be forgotten,” said Runyon.
Johnson County Judge-Executive Mark McKenzie and the Johnson County Fiscal Court recognized McClure in the fiscal court meeting, presenting McClure’s wife, Regina, with a framed recognition of Gary’s years of service signed by Judge McKenzie.
“Gary obviously was outstanding in his service to us and to this community and I wanted to give this to you, Regina, for Gary’s years of service,” said McKenzie.
Judge McKenzie also revealed a large, framed photo of McClure that will be put on display in the Emergency Management conference room.
