Governor Andy Beshear announced funding of more than $23,000,000 has been awarded to six cities, seven counties, and one school board affected by the floods in 2022.
Breathitt County will receive $3 million;
The Breathitt County Board of Education will receive just over $3.3 million;
The city of Jackson in Breathitt County will receive $400,000;
The city of Buckhorn in Perry County will receive $500,000;
The city of Fleming-Neon in Letcher County will receive $350,000;
Floyd County will receive $2.5 million;
The city of Hindman in Knott County will receive $750,000;
Knott County will receive $250,000;
Letcher County will receive just over $5.4 million;
Perry County will receive $5 million. The awards will help the local governments and school boards recover from financial strains caused by the natural disaster.
Kentucky hospitals are facing a staffing shortage. The Kentucky Hospital Association said 12% of hospital jobs are not filled at this time. The Association reported there is a need for 4,000 registered nurses.
