In Floyd County, a juvenile is being charged with terroristic threatening at Adams Middle School.
The School Resource Officer determined that the juvenile had made threatening statements to other students during the school day, indicating an intent to bring a firearm to school the following day.
The juvenile was taken into custody by the Prestonsburg Police Department.
A news release from the Floyd County School District said, “At no time was a firearm discovered on school property, and no students or staff were in any imminent danger during this incident.”
Superintendent Larry Hammond said, “While no firearm was found and no one was in immediate danger, we are following all protocols to ensure the continued security of our school community.”
