Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Seeks Public’s Help Tracking Wild Turkeys

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources is asking the public to help track the state’s wild turkey population this summer.

The agency’s annual Summer Turkey Brood Survey runs now through August 31. Residents are encouraged to report sightings of wild turkeys to help biologists monitor population trends and guide future wildlife management.

Wild Turkey Program Coordinator Zak Danks says turkey numbers naturally rise and fall from year to year, and public reports provide valuable information from across the Commonwealth.

To submit a sighting, visit the Kentucky Fish and Wildlife website and search for “turkey survey.” Participants can complete the survey online, use the mobile app, or download a printable form.
