FRANKFORT, Ky. (WSIP) – Drug overdose deaths continued to decline across Kentucky in 2025, according to a new report.
The report shows 1,110 Kentucky residents died from overdoses last year, a 22.9 percent decrease from 2024 and the fourth consecutive annual decline statewide.
The statewide overdose death rate was 24.3 deaths per 100,000 residents.
Fentanyl and methamphetamine remained the drugs most frequently identified in overdose deaths, though both showed significant decreases from the previous year.
In Johnson County, six overdose deaths were recorded in 2025.
Floyd County recorded 21 overdose deaths, while Pike County reported 18.
