Johnson Central High School Bass Fishing Team sent 10 student anglers (5 Boats) to compete in the 2024 KHSAA Kentucky High School State Bass Fishing Championship over the weekend ( May 10th – 11th) at Kentucky Lake. This was the most teams/boats that the school has qualified from Regional Competition to the State Tournament for a single year in school history. There were 92 boats that qualified from across the state thru regional competition to qualify for the state championship.
tudent/Anglers had to face many challenges this year in practice and competition days. They were faced with some adverse weather as severe thunderstorms and tornado warnings rolled thru on two practice days.
On Friday, the first day of the tournament, they had to battle 15-20 MPH winds and difficult boating and fishing conditions. Then on Saturday, the winds settled some but it was still was difficult to fish in. On top of weather, 2 of our boats had to end the day early on Saturday due to boat mechanical issues.
Congratulations to the following student/anglers on their accomplishments at the 2024 KHSAA High School State Bass Fishing Championship
