*Magoffin Co, making thier 1st ever trip to the Boys Sweet 16, used a strong 2nd half Wednesday to overcome a halftime deficit (24-19) and outscored Perry Co Central Commadores (35-22) to Win their 1st ever Game in the State Tournament. Final Score Magoffin Co 54 Perry Co Central 47.
Aden Barnett led the Hornets in scoring with 24 pts, along with 4 steals and 3 assist. Walker Russell, had a strong 2nd half and ended the game with 14 pts and 7 rebounds. Zane Whitaker contributed 13 pts, 8 rebounds and 3 blocks, while Ethan Salyer scored 3 pts and had 4 rebounds.
Magoffin Co now moves onto to their first ever Sweet 16 Quarterfinals, wher their Opponent will be the #1 Rated Team in the State, the 35-1 Great Crossing Warhawks, who defeeated Spencer Co on Wednesday 62-48
* Also on Wednesday, 2024 Kentucky Mr. Basketball and UK Signee Travis Perry and his Lyon Co team edged the 16th Region Ashland Blazer 45-43 and Adair County defeated Marshall County 72-55.
