Attorneys for former Letcher County Sheriff Shawn Stines are requesting a hearing to discuss Stines’ mental health.
Stines is accused of shooting and killing District Judge Kevin Mullins in September of 2024 in the judge’s chambers.
Defense attorneys have filed a motion requesting a hearing to discuss the possibility that Stines’ mental health may disqualify him from facing the death penalty.
