Kentucky’s Housing task force has been hearing about the state’s shortfall in housing and how other states are approaching solutions.
Wendy Smith of the Housing Corporation told lawmakers the shortage is not simply an issue isolated to the states most populous cities.
One estimate has the state short 206,207 units with another 80,000 units added in five years.
As lawmakers prepare for the legislative session, Smith said three categories need to be discussed: land use and zoning incentives, tax credits, and state financing.
