Police Looking for Man in Connection with Death Investigation in McDowell

State Police are investigating the death of a man in Floyd County. 

It happened on Sunday in McDowell…that’s when troopers responded to a residence on Kentucky Route 680 where they discovered one male subject dead. 

The initial investigation indicated a physical altercation between 41-year-old Michael Colley of Louisville and 53-year-old Patrick Shepherd of McDowell led to Shepherd’s death. 

Shepherd’s body was sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. 

Colley fled the scene of the incident prior to first responder’s arrival.

A search of the area was conducted, but Colley was not located. 

Michael Colley is described as a white male, standing 6 feet tall, weighing 212 pounds, and was last known wearing a dark colored jacket, dark colored sweatpants, and athletic shoes.

He should be considered armed and dangerous.
