The University of Pikeville says, despite recent controversy over testing and licensure by the state board of optometric examiners, the Kentucky College of Optometry remains on mission after graduating more than 300 students.
Questions center on waivers and alternative testing options that have been offered by the state board following COVID-19 travel restrictions.
Some options offered did not include all required parts of the national board of examiners in optometry licensing exam.
UPIKE notes that the three-part exam given nationwide will be required of those seeking a license in Kentucky starting next year.
