Man Dies In Eastern Kentucky Mining Accident

A man is dead following a mining accident in eastern Kentucky yesterday. 

State officials say 25-year-old Preston Pollard was performing maintenance at the Combs Branch Mine in Perry County when he was struck by a falling piece of machinery. 

Governor Andy Beshear shared condolences with Pollard’s family, saying the incident is a reminder of the dangers miners face. 

The Kentucky Department for Natural Resources, Division of Mine Safety is investigating.
